Kitchen Cabinet Refacing (Resurfacing) Cost
Read More
How much can you save if you go for kitchen cabinet refacing over buying new kitchen cabinets?
The cost of new kitchen cabinets depends on a number of factors: whether they’re store-bought or custom-made, size of kitchen, choice of door and drawer front materials, and the number of accessories. On top of the price of the cabinets, there is the installation cost, which can be as much as or even more than the cabinets.
To give you a general idea of the savings, kitchen cabinet refacing can be done for about 20-25% of the cost of new kitchen cabinets. Think of what you can do with the money you save—like taking a nice vacation or two!

Cabinet Refacing Styles

You decided to reface your kitchen cabinets because you want a different style, a lighter stain tone, or your existing doors and drawers are old and dilapidated. The overall look and feel of your kitchen comes from the door and drawer style.
Some of the different styles are:
Shaker. Currently, this is the most popular style. Five-piece shaker style doors will typically have a maple frame and an MDF centre. Using an MDF centre instead of solid wood brings the cost down and reduces warping. The popularity of this style is due to the fact that it can work with both traditional and contemporary looks. People commonly replace their existing MDF cabinets with maple.
Arch (cathedral or roman). This is a classic look for wood cabinet doors. The options are either cathedral (single top arch) or roman (top and bottom arches). This is a great option if you are unhappy with the current amber or gold-tone stain colour, and would prefer a lighter colour.
Raised panel. In this style, the profile of the centre panels can be simple or complex, depending on your preference. Raised panel doors are typically used to get a more traditional or formal look.
MDF (medium density fibreboard). MDF doors and drawers are a very versatile and cost-effective option. They can be manufactured in a flat, shaker, or raised panel style and, similar to solid wood, they can be painted or stained.
Our Process

We order the drawers and doors from a manufacturer. You can also choose to have different styles/types of glass installed. Once manufactured, they go to our spray shop where your choice of finish is applied, and then they’re ready to be installed in your kitchen.
For the rest of the kitchen cabinets, we set up a temporary spray booth around the cabinetry. This allows us to spray the cabinets without getting stain or paint on anything else. We use paper and plastic to completely protect your countertops and backsplash.
We also use a portable on-site exhaust to create a negative pressure booth. This helps eliminate fumes and atomized paint inside the on-site booth and stops anything from escaping.
The shell/bones, doors, and drawers all get filled where needed, sanded, and degreased before any spray work is done. We do everything required for your kitchen cabinets, like installing soft-close hinges, replacing glass doors, replacing handles/pulls, and making minor alterations to cabinets.
