When it comes to staining, the hard part is discerning exactly what you’re looking for. For example, one person might be dreaming of rich, warm, solid mahogany, reminiscent of the 1950s. Another might like the same colour of stain but want the stairs and railing to have a shabby-chic distressed look.
We’ve got to get that right for you!
We work closely with you to make sure we’re seeing the same thing you’re seeing in your imagination. Then we use our knowledge of products and how to mix them to prepare samples for you. That way, you know you’re going to get an end result that will leave you smiling every time you use the stairs.
We strongly advise a colour consultation with our interior designer before you make your final selection. Staining railings and stairs will make a significant difference to the look and feel of your home. If you aren’t completely happy with the outcome, you’ll feel uneasy every time you look at the staircase, and we don’t want that for you.
We want you to feel joy on that staircase!
Maybe you’ve just had your hardwood floor refinished and you’d like the banister and stairs to match it. Or maybe you want to match other wood furniture in your home. Whatever the reason, we are experts at matching stain to help you create the look you want.
We’ll select colours from the highest-quality products, blend a little of this with a lot of the other and vice versa. Sometimes it’s a challenge but you can trust that we’ll keep it up until we’ve got the colour down. We’re your interior painting and staining experts!
Before we start, we’ll prep the area to ensure that your home is protected. We also take measures to keep any dust from affecting you and your family.
After stripping the old finish off (in some cases), we’ll sand the stairs and the railing to ensure they’re smooth. Then we’ll clean the wood and apply the stain.
There is a certain type of application specific to each type of wood. Some require the stain to be wiped on and then sprayed with a clear coat, and other types of wood may require a shading technique that we apply with a sprayer. Whichever technique is needed, we advise our clients not to attempt it on their own. A certain amount of knowledge and experience is required to achieve the desired outcome. It also takes us less time, freeing up your staircase more quickly so you can use it.
If you’re thinking of changing it up, give us a call. We’ll schedule a visit to your home to listen to your plans and provide professional feedback. We’d love to get to know you and help you transform your staircase.
